If you are experiencing intrusive negative thoughts, nightmares, startle response, anxiety, and emotional disturbance associated with an event, EMDR can help.  EMDR therapy works directly with memories, emotional states and body sensations associated with distressing or traumatic events.  In an EMDR session, I will guide you through the reprocessing of your memory using your eye movements. This therapy is designed to diminish negative feelings associated with distressing memories of events.  My intention for you is that you will come to a place of resolution and healing regarding this event and that you will gain a new perspective about yourself and your capabilities.

In my practice, EMDR is a structured therapy which involves: Identifying the problem area and your therapeutic goals; providing you with information about EMDR and possible outcomes; creating safety and guiding you through emotional stabilizing techniques that can be used during and in-between sessions; designing and implementing a customized therapeutic plan/program; and reprocessing the distressing memory or memories.  This course of therapy works best in an allotment of 4-5 successive sessions with intervals no longer than one or two weeks apart.
