If you are struggling with managing your anger, you have come to the right place.  In coping with anger, it can be helpful to understand the nature of anger.  Anger is like an umbrella for other emotions.  Underneath this umbrella of anger are often feeling states that are more difficult to identify and express such as hurt, fear, grief, vulnerability, shame and anxiety.  Anger often results from unmet needs that may originate as far back as childhood.  Certain situations, people, and circumstances can trigger feelings of anger and this can feel sudden, overwhelming, intense, and unpredictable.  On the other hand, anger sometimes feels like a lingering irritation just below the surface that never quite goes away.  My intention for you in anger-management counselling, is that you will develop a sense of control over your anger and gain confidence in your abilities to work through conflict.

Our work together is designed to:

  • Explore the possible routes of your anger and to deepen your understanding of your own emotional processes and patterns.
  • Assist you in learning to identify the messages behind your anger and the productive actions you can take in your present situation.
  • Provide you with tools for managing your anger on the spot before it becomes hurtful or explosive.
  • Strengthen your ability to communicate your needs effectively with others.
  • Cultivate a sense of trust in your capacity to manage your responses and maintain healthy relationships.
