In 2008, I embarked on a professional journey, marked by the privilege of offering support to bereaved individuals who were navigating the complex realm of grief and loss. This initial step paved the way for me in aiding patients and families as they journeyed through the profound end-of-life experience within the hospice unit. My commitment extended to a community counselling centre where I assisted a diverse clientele in addressing a wide spectrum of mental health challenges. This work led to my true passion in my private practice, where I find immense satisfaction in facilitating personal transformation in my valued clients.
I hold a master’s degree in counselling and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
In my practice, I use a client-centered approach to counselling which means I work in collaboration with you to form a relationship based on mutual trust and respect. From this healthy foundation, we join in our focused attention towards improving aspects of your life and emotional well-being that are of importance to you. I use methods supported by science that have been shown to be effective in the regulation of emotions, managing negative thought patterns and treating anxiety and depression. I draw from an eclectic mix of evidence-based and strength-based therapy modalities, some of which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and the principles of Positive Psychology. Also of importance in my practice is the awareness of the interplay between mind, body and spirit, which is interwoven into my therapeutic approach.
As a curious clinician, I continue to expand my knowledge through educational opportunities offered through my professional association and I regularly attend specialized workshops and seminars within my community so that I can continue to enhance my clinical skills. I place a great value on staying fresh and current in my therapeutic knowledge so that I can serve you in the best ways possible and continue to meet the standards set by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
