My career began in 2008 when I had the privilege of working with bereaved individuals seeking help in dealing with grief and loss issues. Following that, I became involved in assisting patients and families on the hospice unit who were going through the end-of-life journey with their loved ones. This work led to my current position at Island Health in which I help patients and families to receive optimal hospital accommodation during their hospital stay.

My professional services extend to a community counselling centre where I help a diversity of clients in managing emotional and mental health concerns. In addition, my private practice is my passion and is truly where my excitement for creating lasting personal change is fuelled.

I hold a master’s degree in counselling and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

My Approach

In my practice, I use a client-centered approach to counselling which means I work in collaboration with you to form a relationship based on mutual trust and respect. From this healthy foundation, we are able to join in our focused attention towards improving aspects of your life and emotional well-being that are of importance to you at this time. I use methods which have been backed up by scientific evidence and proven to be effective in the regulation of emotions, managing negative thought patterns and treating anxiety and depression. I draw from an eclectic mix of evidence-based and strength-based therapy modalities, some of which include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and the principles of Positive Psychology. Also of importance in my practice is the awareness of the mind-body-spirit connection which is incorporated into my therapeutic approach.

Staying Fresh and Knowledgeable

As a curious clinician, I continue to expand my knowledge through educational opportunities offered through my professional association and I regularly attend specialized workshops and seminars within my community so that I can continue to enhance my clinical skills. I place a great value on staying fresh and current in my therapeutic knowledge so that I can serve you in the best ways possible and continue to meet the standards set by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
